HISTORY: Lived as a stray, survived Albertas harsh winters by scrounging food from the dump and hiding in trash to keep warm. Quite afraid of people Mel was known to our rescuers but she would run from them, having been seen with small puppies who were saved by Rory during a -40 cold snap. When we were finally able to secure her she was alone, severely injured, malnourished and pregnant (again!!) She gave birth to a beautiful litter of 9, safe and comfortable in her RMAR foster home and is now ready to meet her forever family.
TEMPERAMENT: Mid/low ranking. Zero interest in being Alpha.
PERSONALITY: Big beautiful Mel is a Mama through and through. Loyal & loving Big Mel adores being with people and other dogs. She is very social while remaining mid/low energy, she is aware of her size and incredibly gentle in her approach. She LOVES to cuddle and is so polite, waiting to be invited on to furniture for snuggles. She loves to pack walk with other dogs, does well on leash. She sometimes needs a little encouragement in new or noisy places, and is now happy to go for a ride in the car. She is excellent with all animals and people, everyone she has met has fallen in love with her sweet nature.
BEST MATCH: Mel would love a family with some outdoor space for her lounge in the sun, she would thrive with a canine companion to play and explore with.
